Bernhardt Design Launches a Table Collection Inspired by Surfboards

Bernhardt Design just launched their latest collaboration – a collection of tables designed by Claudia and Harry Washington. The La Paz collection of multipurpose tables gives nod to La Paz beach on the Salvadorean coast known for its beautiful sandy beaches and surf culture. Intrigued by the surfboards gliding across the water, the Washingtons set out to bring the same elegant form of wooden longboards to the tables. The soft curves of the edges on a longboard are referenced in the smooth, rounded legs and tabletops that define the La Paz tables. The craftsmanship that goes into forming the smooth lines of the boards falls right in line with traditional furniture making, something that resonates with both the designers and Bernhard Design.

From Jerry Helling, President and Creative Director of Bernhardt Design:

Sometimes design inspiration is a stretch, but with Harry and Claudia it was so practical and obvious. I don’t think the romance of the genesis of La Paz will be lost on people. There is a sense of humble purity that is timeless, and the table will resonate as an enduring design.

The La Paz collection comes in rectangular, square and round versions with a choice of solid ash wood or an assortment of veneers and laminates for the tops. A variety of sizes are available, from smaller meeting room and cafe tables to larger conference tables with the option of an undermount power management system for convenient power access.
