The Vlonder Table Exposes the Natural Beauty of Wood Grain

Designed by Antwerp-based Marc Meeuwissen, the Vlonder (Plank Bridge) table is an exercise in refined simplicity and asymmetry. The table is the first object in Meeuwissen’s new project called “Save Home,” inspired after the devastating floods in Belgium, The Netherlands, and Germany. Constructed from one-piece layers of Valchromat, a type of engineered wood, Vlonder highlights the beauty of the wood grain through its hand-sawn finish. Underneath, the mix of cylindrical and square legs are placed in offset positions, creating a distinct peculiarity for the table. Vlonder is finished with a water-base lacquer that doesn’t takeaway from the unique textures of the table.
