Flip: The Fold-Away Workstation Inspired by Laptops

In small spaces and homes where every square foot is precious real estate, careful considerations in regards to furniture need to be made. While the dining table often pulls double duty as a work space, a dedicated station can help promote productivity and offer that shift in mindset needed for heads down work. The Flip Desk, designed by Zürich-based designer Charles O. Job for Dutch design brand Vij5 offers just that without taking up any floor space.

Inspired by the design of a laptop, the desk easily flips open to reveal a storage organizer to hold notepads, writing utensils, or magazines and a small worktop that is supported by a specially designed wooden hinge. When not in use, the desk flips up and magnetically stays closed, hiding the clutter that can accumulate in the storage compartment after a long day of work.
