Meet Arper’s New 2023 Collections That Inspire Beauty, Energy & Vitality

Arper celebrated Milan Design Week 2023 in a big way, releasing its five new 2023 collections that are all focused on exploring life and all of its complexities. The designs offer solutions that inspire beauty, energy, and vitality, all while wrapped up in the perspective that Life is Beautiful.

Aava 02

First up, Arper’s classic Aava got an upgrade with new sustainable materials – meet Aava 02. The new edition, designed by Antti Kotilainen, is made from both post-consumer plastic and virgin polypropylene in a fresh palette of colors. The post-consumer recycled polypropylene is reinforced with fiberglass, offering durability without sacrificing finish and color, two difficult distinctions for sustainable materials. Aava 02’s fully upholstered seats are designed without glue, so that parts may be easily separated for recycling or reuse. The full range of chairs and stools can be finished in this new material, as well as a range of FSC-certified wood or with upholstery in multiple styles. Manufactured to last, Aava 02 should be around for generations to come.

Ralik

Fully modular with elements that can be used together or separately, Ralik includes a pouf, seat with backrest, and a bench. Ichiro Iwasaki designed the family to be used for both work and relaxation with their easy beauty. The system is equipped with quick, tool-free linking for use with its six seating components: a pouf, seat with backrest, and a bench – all available in one and two seat configurations. Ralik’s tables are available in both fixed and adjustable height, slot them in seamlessly to add structure and surface to the softer forms. L-shaped recycled polypropylene legs give the modules a light, sculptural look and access for cleaning underneath. Both Raik’s upholstery and legs come in a variety of colors to mix and match. The tables and seating elements also include charging outlets. The collection can be fully disassembled, with removable upholstery for easy reuse or recycling.

Roopa

The details matter, and Roopa knows it. Doshi Levien’s collection provides essential shapes with a sculptural touch that are finished with attention to surface and texture. The table features a top with semi-translucent glass and a matte FSC-certified, European-sourced MDF frame that provides texture and completes the monochromatic look. The contrast between materials adds a touch of not-too-serious sophistication, similar to the finish first explored in Shaal. Roopa adds light angles to its legs for a subtle, sculptural signature. Finished in warm grey, midnight blue, forest green, or Jaipur pink, the collection can be fully disassembled for proper recycling.

Semiton

Semiton is an adaptive furniture piece that brings structure, surface, and storage to any space. Designed by García Cumini, it’s endlessly customizable with aluminum bases and tabletops that are offered in two lengths and three distinct modules of two heights that can finished with doors, open shelving, or closed on one side. Finished on all sides, the modular Semiton system can be expanded or contracted to accommodate your current demands and needs. A space for hidden cable management ensures the integrity of the overall aesthetic stays intact. Modules can be finished individually in a broad palette of MDF using bold colors or wood veneer. All components can be fully disassembled and reconfigured.

Shaal

Receiving a fresh update in 2023, Doshi Levien’s Shaal collection now includes a chaise, daybed, and ottoman. Structured yet soft, the seating was inspired by an “embrace” of comfort and capacity for every situation. The new additions offer more functionality and form. All of the modules can combine leather and fabric finishes from Shaal’s broad range, with the exception of the ottoman – which comes only in a monomaterial version. As with the other new collections, Shaal can be entirely disassembled, including removable cushion upholstery for easy refurbishment and maintenance.
