Van Staeyen Interieur proves that all it takes to make an incredible kid’s room is some wood, paint, and some imagination. Well, a lot of imagination, as proven in this project called GERM. On the top floor of a rural Belgian house, they transformed an empty, awkwardly shaped room into a bedroom that any kid would dream to call their own.
In the middle of the room, a large volume houses a bed on each side, giving two kids their own “bedroom” with incorporated storage. An attached ladder on the end leads to a playhouse with geometric openings for looking out.
The bottom half of the structure is painted white with yellow popping out from the accents. The top and inside of the bed cubbies were left in their natural pinewood state for contrast.
On each side of the bedroom, desks were installed along the sloped ceiling.

i especially love the little ladder add on in the side of the bed! Very creative. A website worth checking out for interior design stuff is furnishr.com, they add a lot of spice to their rooms!

Wow this is such an amazing use of space and so creative! When I was a kid, I loved building forts out of the couch cushions and blankets. This is like one big permanent fort. As a new Dad and a furniture builder, my head is spinning with new ideas for the future. Seriously cool parents to do something like this for their kiddos. Thanks for sharing!

This is a really inspired design, so perfect for kids. It could be modified for adults, and the sleek lines would be a great context for industrial pieces and materials. Check out the industrial styled desks and chairs at newindustrialfurniture.com. Metal and wood furniture and stone or cement flooring together with some chicken wire would make a very industrial statement.
