A Kid’s Room That Will Make You Want to Be a Kid Again

Van Staeyen Interieur proves that all it takes to make an incredible kid’s room is some wood, paint, and some imagination. Well, a lot of imagination, as proven in this project called GERM. On the top floor of a rural Belgian house, they transformed an empty, awkwardly shaped room into a bedroom that any kid would dream to call their own.

In the middle of the room, a large volume houses a bed on each side, giving two kids their own “bedroom” with incorporated storage. An attached ladder on the end leads to a playhouse with geometric openings for looking out.

The bottom half of the structure is painted white with yellow popping out from the accents. The top and inside of the bed cubbies were left in their natural pinewood state for contrast.

On each side of the bedroom, desks were installed along the sloped ceiling.
