Welcoming comfort was key for designer Sebastian Herkner when designing additions to the Taru collection for Ligne Roset. It was also essential to show off the craftsmanship and quality of the brand. The new release includes the canalounge, petite armchair, and ottoman as additions to the 3-seater fabric sofa with chaise lounge. Fun fact: Taru’s name comes from an unlikely place – Herkner was inspired by circus elephants and christened the collection after one of them.
“The elegance and simplicity of Taru reflects my approach for good design, which becomes a companion for our interiors. The soft seat with its iconic bold legs are surrounded by the back and armrests like embracing individuals,” Herkner divulged. “The collection provides interior designers the possibility to mix and match colors and materials, with the beautiful backside of the sofa able to be upholstered separately. This variety allows us to see the design in domestics, but also in hospitality projects. Regarding the sizes and typologies, it is perfect for normal spaces as well as huge lobbies.”
The new additions to Taru invite you to relax with their rounded silhouettes, remaining faithful to the original piece in the collaboration. At the same time, a fully-upholstered base creates a compact, refined seat with added character. Perhaps the most interesting detail of the seating’s design is the subtly curved backrest with a bi-material treatment. This alone adds vast potential to mix materials – both fabrics and leathers – and colors for the backside of the seating. The settee is available in large, medium, and 1-arm (left or right) options. Add further comfort with an optional back cushion or a footstool with an identical base as the settee.
