When you’re a kid there’s nothing better than finding small places to hide that are all your own and Awork Design Studio took that into consideration when designing, Explorer, an apartment in Taoyuan, Taiwan. For the concept, the homeowner requested an open floor plan with lots of natural light, along with places for the children to play. The result is a main living area that contains multiple zones while still managing to feel spacious.
Set in front of the large window is the dining room, which can also be used for working or studying.
The interior utilizes hardwood surfaces to create a cozy, inviting feel for the family. The wood is paired with a neutral palette of greys, tans, white, and black.
The entry way is visually partitioned off with a suspended shelf that also provide extra storage.
A multifunctional room sits off from the main living space providing storage and extra play space. It’s windows also flood the open interior with daylight.
There’s a nook carved out just for the children where they have a teepee and plenty of toys.
