Carla Avruch

Carla Avruch does colored pencil abstracts on tracing paper. Wow.

On her website, she states:

I am working on a micro level to create a sense of intimacy. The drawings are small, which forces the viewer to peer closely at the images. These drawings are meant to be examined as one would examine a natural object under a microscope; thoroughly, so as to get every physical detail. The biomorphic shapes relate to shapes in the human body, such as neurotransmitters. The movement of the viewer’s eyes literally mimics the way information would fire across a neurotransmitter. In this way, energy is also important to my work. The movement and light in the drawings are both direct references to energy.
