I just stumbled across Kelley McCarthy. I need one of her pieces immediately.
She says of her work:
The Sensation of Being: My work uses the human figure, animals, everyday objects, fleshy beings, and color metaphorically to depict human experience, contradiction, vulnerability, passage of time, rhythym, and memory; All components in the sensation of being. By trying to engage the viewer by use of layering, I hope to create a visual depth, a sense that there is more than first meets the eye to be discovered in the painting. I feel my paintings are interpretations rather than compositions. Often working in series of small paintings, I enjoy creating a visual storyline.
