BABEL by Studio RAIN

BABEL is an installation formed by Studio RAIN, which is comprised of Mariana Ramos and Ricardo Innecco. Part of Design Weekend São Paulo, the exhibit is a deliberation on transformation, scale, and utilities.

BABEL1

BABEL consisted of tables of all sizes, which were constantly arranged and composed differently throughout the exhibition to emphasize the impermanent nature of transformation. Knowing that the function of a table is directly related to size, BABEL is an exploration of utility of the tables.

BABEL9

On their own, the small tables act as stools or decoration, and the bigger ones act as tables/desks. However, when stacked, they can act as shelving or a large, uneven surface.

BABEL4

The ever-changing form of the sculpture and its possibilities results in the unexpected — where a single object becomes sculptural and architectural.
