B&B Italia Outdoor has launched two new seating systems, designed by Patricia Urquiola, for 2015. Fat-Sofa Outdoor and Butterfly aim to bring Urquiola’s modern aesthetic to comfortable furniture you can kick back on in your outdoor space.

Fat-Sofa Outdoor is based on the indoor version with its soft, rounded shape, but this time it’s for the outdoors. The padded seat is paired with a metal frame backrest that supports a large woven pattern made of twisted polyethylene fibers.

There are six pieces in the collection: a sofa, relax island, an armchair in two heights, and various ottoman sizes.

Butterfly gets its name from the “butterfly” shape that’s created where the outer corner joins the armrest and the backrest. The base piece is an ottoman that can be combined with a backrest and/or an armrest to create a customized seating system. The elements connect with a simple joint system so any number of configurations can be attained.

This is the first textile sofa for the B&B Italia Outdoor collection and its overstuffed cushions make it look just like a comfortable sofa you’d have indoors. It’s completely upholstered in a durable outdoor fabric but outfitted with the same materials you’d find in a regular sofa.
