BD Is Not a Style Part 1: Jaime Hayon

BD Is Not a Style. This was very obvious in BD Barcelona Design’s very minimal and under-designed booth at the Salone Mobile International in Milan. The designers names listed on the wall captured my attention not the over-the top-design of the space. In fact if anything, I initially turned my nose up at the booth as I passed by. But with designers such a Jaime Hayon, Ross Lovegrove, and Konstantin Grcic, I knew there was much more to it than what first met the eye! Here is a look at the incredible new designs from these artists, starting with Jaime Hayon.

Jaime Hayon, the youngest Spanish designer with the greatest international recognition, presented The Lounger, a perfect blend between classicism and modernity. In Showtime plastics coexist with quilted upholstery, the glossiness of lacquered wood and the best ceramic traditions. The contrasts and sophistication which lend personality to Jaime Hayon’s work are represented in this extensive collection which ranges from vases to chairs. Now it is completed with a new piece, The Lounger, which will also satisfy those who have more classical tastes. An elegant and comfortable wing chair with one-color finishes and optional footrest.

Look for parts 2 and 3 coming up!
