BLANCO Zooms in on Color with a New App and Concrete Gray SILGRANIT® Hue

We’ve all heard more than one hypothesis on color, about how it effects our welfare, our health, and more beyond aesthetics. White has held a years-long monopoly on the kitchen, but now gray is beginning to creep in to claim its share as well. In fact, the entire kitchen is experiencing a sort of revolution, with designers turning more often to complementary and triad palettes when choosing colors.

From International Color Consultant Amy Wax:

The colors and design of a home should be a reflection of the people who live inside.

BLANCO, the innovative German manufacturer of finely crafted sinks and faucets, has taken note and introduced a brand new color – Concrete Gray – to their SILGRANIT® sinks collection that feature rock hard granite durability. It fits into urban and natural settings alike, and is super versatile thanks to the red and blue undertones in the engineered hue. Concrete Gray makes for a great neutral match for a wide array of countertop and cabinet designs. If you’re unfamiliar with BLANCO’s patented SILGRANIT®, it’s a composite material made of up to 80% natural granite that’s both stain- and scratch-resistant and easy to clean with a repellent non-porous surface. It’s heat-resistant up to 536°F and includes Hygienic+Plus surface protection.

“BLANCO’s new Concrete Gray makes a statement on many levels,” states Tim Maicher, Director of Marketing for BLANCO. “Concrete Gray provides the greatest design flexibility – it is a perfect match for today’s kitchen materials and complements a wide range of countertops for a cool, modern design. We spend countless hours analyzing color trends to find timeless neutrals that offer a fresh, sophisticated look, which seamlessly blends in a way that is practical, while inspirational.”

Color choices help enhance welfare by defining workspaces, while saturation and tonal value can affect mood, emotional reactions, and behavioral responses among other things. Today’s sinks aren’t bound by boring colors and materials like their predecessors, rather BLANCO’s fresh palette of neutrals allows the sink to be a design highlight. By using other elements that either warm up or cool down a space, Concrete Gray’s red and blue undertones will really come into play and help to bring out the homeowner’s personality. Use strong contrast light and dark colors to draw attention to key details, while colorful choices will help support a positive mood.

Concrete gray is considered a “smart neutral,” meaning it’s warm and cool tones will help it blend into different countertops and kitchen environments. These types of colors have a long lifespan, while concurrently being on trend with today’s kitchen designs.

As mentioned, today’s consumers have more options for sink colors, which means more options and chances to become overwhelmed with the possibilities. But now thanks to BLANCO, there’s an app to help mix and match sinks with countertops. The free app, named BLANCO SILGRANIT®, was created for homeowners, designers, and fabricators alike, to help users visually pair 157 BLANCO sinks and 60 BLANCO countertops, as well as color combinations. You can photograph and add your own countertop selections to the app, save favorite combinations, and even email them to others. There’s also a Store Locator feature to help find your nearest BLANCO dealer and make your dream design a reality.

“As the industry leader in granite composite sinks, we constantly research and develop intelligent sink colors to match today’s most popular counter surfaces,” states Tim Maicher, Director of Marketing for BLANCO. “With so many color combinations available, this app brings surfaces and sinks together so they can be easily matched, saved and shared. It simply takes the guesswork out before purchase.”
