Blue Bottle Coffee Hong Kong Central by Schemata Architects

Blue Bottle Coffee Hong Kong Central is a minimal cafe space located in Hong Kong, designed by Schemata Architects. While Blue Bottle purposefully adapts the local culture to each of their newest locations, their main mission is to maintain an equal relationship between customer and staff.

This expression is particularly interesting in a cityscape such as Hong Kong, which are filled with narrow streets behind luxurious high-rise buildings. One such detail was the use of large tile floors in order to quickly clean and dry dirty floors.

The architects decided to use wet tiles custom made in Tajimi City, one of the top tile producers in the world. Due to the rest of the building being constructed in concrete, the architects requested the tiles be manufactured in a concrete-like texture and color in order to maintain consistency.
