Buddy is a minimalist design created by German-based design firm bao-nghi droste design for Markus Form. Buddy is versatile piece of furniture that was created to accommodate a variety of spaces and environments. The object could serve as an occasional piece beside the sofa or a freestanding sculpture within a long hallway.
The designers purposefully raised the edges on the side of the surface to create a bowl-like shape. Not only does this create a unique topology, but also serves a functional purpose as well. Objects that are placed within the bowl are not only secured from movement, but hidden from view as well to create a cleaner aesthetic.
The materials were carefully chosen to contrast each other without being overbearing on the rest of the space. As a result, the juxtaposition between the solid ash base and aluminum bowl was the prime candidate to create a graceful and warm appearance.
