Business of Design Week 2021 Hits the Global Design Reset Button

Hurry – don’t miss this great event! Registration is open for Business of Design Week (BODW) 2021, Asia’s premier annual event that focuses on design, innovation, and brands! This year’s summit is happening soon – December 1-4 – and will be held as a hybrid program that’s simulcast online. (Perfect for us who won’t be in Hong Kong!) All sessions will be streamed on social media and online to catch from the comfort of your screen. The full program explores eight topics relevant to today’s world: Brand Rejuvenation, Connected Health and Wellbeing, Creative Mindset & Innovation Leadership, Culture & the City, Designing an Intelligent Future, Hospitality with Purpose, New Urban Models, and Phygital Reality.

BODW 2021 is organized by Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC), with a focus this year on moving forward and building a better post-pandemic world. The summit shines a light on how we can thrive amid crisis, co-create a sustainable future, and make meaningful impact through human-centered design and technology. The packed lineup of panel sessions will draw on this year’s ‘Global Design Reset’ theme and the need for fresh thinking, decisive leadership, and collaborative creativity across disciplines in what is our new normal.

You’ll hear from experts in all areas of design, culture and technology who will enlighten you, whether you’re a designer, firm owner, architect or other industry. The challenges we face for the future not only affect those in the design and architecture industries, but in all creative aspects of business. In fact, creative thinking in business is how solutions are created, how paths are forged and how we adapt to the future (in other words: don’t miss this event!).

We’re most looking forward to the keynote speakers: visionary, innovator, designer, educator, and author Bruce Mau will be talking on December 1st about ‘How Design Changes the World’, and renowned architect and innovator Thomas Heatherwick is speaking December 2nd on ‘Rewilding Urban Spaces’.

Bruce’s talk dives into how we will re-emerge from a time of uncertainty and reinvent how we do business – from focusing on human-centered design to solving environmental challenges.

Thomas’ talk will focus on how reimagining architecture, landscape design and urban space with biophilic elements and green spaces can improve our wellbeing.

Other panels that caught our attention are Brand Strategy: Designing for Growth, Case Sharing: Turning Design Thinking into Design Doing, and Carving Out Future Workspace and Living.
