Cabinets with Patchwork Surfaces

London based design firm Doshi Levien has expanded BD Barcelona Design’s catalog of cabinets with a new piece called Shanty. Named for the improvised, crudely built shacks around the world, from Brazil to Africa to India, the Shanty cabinet’s surfaces are covered in a patchwork pattern of colorful, corrugated material, just like the temporary dwellings.

Shanty’s design celebrates the beauty of the structures with their sporadic placement of the different colored panels. The panels on the design hide copious amounts of storage in the asymmetric body.

Shanty comes in the multicolor version and one in various shades of gray, as well as other solid colors.
