A Capsule Hotel Comes to Town in Napoli

We’ve shared capsule hotels before (see here and here) but this hospitality concept has made its way across the pond to Napoli, a first for Italy. Similar to a hostel, the Bed and Boarding (of Dorelan and DorelanHotel) designed by Carlotta Tartarone and Studiotre of Naples provides the necessities for travelers who are looking for a simple place to rest that won’t break the bank but doesn’t sacrifice on comfort.

Conveniently located at the International Airport Napoli Capodichino, the Bed and Boarding (shortened to BenBo) is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and features 16 bathrooms and 42 colorfully painted “living pods” that guests can stay in. While they are only four square meters each, these rooms have everything you need for a good night’s stay: soundproof walls, automatic doors, room darkening window blinds, reclining table, mirror, clothes hanger, shoe rack, complimentary courtesy kit and free wifi.

The BenBo ensures that you’ll be comfortable because you’ll be resting on Brera mattresses and Feel pillows developed by the DorelanHotel, which were made to be “highly resistant, long-lasting, anatomically supportive and crush-proof.”

What: The Bed and Boarding (BenBo)
Where: Viale Fulco Ruffo di Calabria, snc, Naples, Italy 80100
How much? Approximately $9 for the first hour and $8 for the second hour during the day; $28 for a full stay of 9 hours.
Highlights: Yep, you read those rates right. The BenBo can afford to keep its rates low because it only provides the bare necessities for you to get comfortable and get a good sleep, whether it’s for a couple of hours while you wait for your delayed flight or for a full night’s sleep.
Design draw: Each capsule is only 4 square meters but you don’t get the sense that you’re staying in a prison cell with the hotel’s colorfully painted capsules and fruit trees planted around the lobby.
Book it: Visit the Bed and Boarding (BenBo)
