Casa Agudela by Rui Cerqueira Barros

Located close to the sea in Lavra, Matosinhos, Portugal, the Agudela House is full of sunlight despite being a large black structure. Designed by Rui Cerqueira Barros, the smooth, dark volume is broken up with windows and openings that help fill the home with light and ocean breezes.

Situated over three floors, the first houses the public spaces with the living room, kitchen, laundry, and integrated garage. The second floor is where the bedrooms are, as well as an office, while the third floor acts as a private attic room with its own terrace facing the south.

The interior is outfitted with white walls, wood floors and trim, and the occasional black accent.
