A Classically Modern Loft in Kiev by Sergey Makhno

This 128 square meter (or 1,377 square foot) apartment in Kiev was designed by Sergey Makhno who gave the space a loft-like feel. Located in a historical building in the city’s old commercial district, the Podil Loft Apartment, named after the district, bared old brickwork with metal channel bars during the renovation.

The discovery lead Makhno to restore the bricks and cover them with a protective polish letting them set the tone of the design.

The floors were covered with textured solid oak wood creating a warmth throughout the space.

Wooden slats were hung vertically on one of the walls adding additional texture.

Just off the living room is the master bedroom which is kept simple. Concrete pendants from Foscarini hang off-center above the bed.

Privacy must not be an issue between the bedroom and the bathroom as the doors are all glass.

I love how the glass-enclosed shower almost floats in the center of the bathroom.

A large balcony off the master bathroom makes way for a huge bathtub on one side and a desk on the other.
