Last weekend I went to the opening of Oakland-based artist Pablo Manga’s new show Bold As Love at Farm Project Space + Gallery on Cape Cod. I first discovered his work two years ago at the same gallery, and my husband and I even purchased one of his pieces (want to see it hanging in my living room?). Interestingly, Manga uses translucent tape to create these works, not paint, which was probably your first impression. While they certainly make an impact on the screen, they’re quite special in person, as you can see the many different layers, and how they intersect to create new shades of color. I thought it would be fun to create Colourlovers palettes of four of his pieces for this week’s CMYLK.
