Pattern Paintings by Katherine Sable

The following post is brought to you by Sherwin-Williams. Our partners are hand-picked by the Design Milk team because they represent the best in design.

Delicate and Durable, 2010

Artist Katherine Sable’s oil paintings have the color, pattern, and rhythm of Morocco. She characterizes the motifs in her work as “overtly sentimental” and finds that exploration of her “decorative embellishment” evokes a sentimentality and vulnerability. For this week’s CMYLK, we used Sherwin-Williams’ new Chip It!™ color selection tool to create an instant color palette of her richly colored abstract designs. The newest update Sherwin-Williams made to Chip It!™ is the ability to upload photos from your desktop and create palettes from more than 1,500 Sherwin-Williams paint colors. We made palettes for three of Sable’s abstracts:

Fancy Goods, 2011

Show a Little Ankle, 2011
