Collection 22 by Studio Dessuant Bone

Studio Dessuant Bone won the prestigious design competition, 1% Artistique, in France, where they created a collection of furniture for the community center Maison de Quartier Sémard in Saint Denis. The competition brief requested art and design projects for new government buildings being constructed and their winning collection included four tables, eight chairs, eight stools, and two kitchen trolleys. The idea behind Collection 22 was to help and improve the communal/meeting area in the community center.

Each piece was made by the woodworking students at the Lycée Bartholdi school in Saint Denis, another step in helping to bring the community together. By working with the knowledgable students, they were able to design pieces with sophisticated joinery.

Using traditional marquetry in a modern way, they added another design element to each piece giving them a graphic sensibility.

For each piece created, a logo was made based on the marquetry on that work, which was then laser embossed on the bottom, along with the names of each student who worked on it.
