Cord Lighting Series by Brendan Ravenhill

I’m a big fan of Brendan Ravenhill, but I realized I hadn’t featured his beautiful Cord lighting series before. He’s just released two new pieces in the collection, a 3-arm pendant and a sconce, but here’s a look at all of them in their stunning glory.

Cord Pendant uses tensegrity with the steel arms in compression and the electrical wires in constant tension. Held together by a triangular brass element, the arms stretch out like their reaching for the walls.

I love that, from above, these look like simple line drawings.

Cord Chandelier (also available in long) is constructed in the same way as the pendant.

Cord Lamp (comes in 24″ and 36″ and also available in black) is, as Ravenhill states, “an evolutionary descendant of Jean Prouve’s Swing Jib lamp.”

Cord Sconce is like a miniature version of the Cord Lamp. Cute!

These might be my favorite wall-mounted lamps, even rivaling my love for the Nelson bubble sconces! I can’t believe I never wrote about them before.
