Corners is a minimalist design created by Tokyo-based design firm Nendo for Moroso. The designers realized that placement of furniture on the corner of a room can sometimes produce calming effects. Likewise, there are areas in a room that feel just right for the placement of a book, or a mobile phone, or even one’s keys.
This design takes inspiration from these “corners of space,” and consists of a three-sided cube box that can be joined in various directions. The designers describe how a cube such as Corners reassures placement of valuable items in comparison to a flat surface or a tray.
The box is designed so that it can be configured to suit the users’ needs. The stacking of various sized cubes not only serves a functional purpose, but an aesthetic one as well, allowing the user to create interesting patterns and combinations. Its compact size also ensures a comfortable fit beside the bed or sofa, or lined up against a wall.
