Horizons was born out of the idea of reuse and waste elimination. Sweden-based Spanish designer Carlos Jiménez started seeing tons of wooden offcuts in his trash can in similar shapes. He began thinking about how these could be used in a functional way.
After playing with them for a while, he thought they could be mountains and buildings, so he created a set of fun toy blocks that play on the idea of landscapes. His resulting design is a puzzle composed of 12 pieces of wood. All the pieces together form 5 mountains. These 12 pieces can also form two other horizons, one mountain landscape and one urban landscape. The varying combinations are a reflection on the continuous transformation of nature into urban environments (and back again!). Definitely a fun desktop item to play around with – cute idea!
