Design Milk at IDSwest 2015

The Design Milk team is really excited to be working on some fun stuff this year with IDSwest, one of the top trade shows on the West Coast featuring Pacific Coast designers. The show is being held this year held at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, Canada from September 24-27th. Here are some reasons you should come:

LA_Exchange_Black

Design Milk has curated the LA Exchange exhibit, a special space in the show focused on highlighting the design landscape of Los Angeles. The space is being designed by Falken Reynolds Interiors, an awesome Canadian design team who has been able to capture the spirit of LA in their beautiful space. So come by, have a tropical drink with us, and relax in our awesome booth! Check out the six incredible designers who are representing LA:

bend-goods

Bend, founded by Gaurav Nanda, a sculptor and designer from Michigan, is based on Nanda’s passion for making functional yet sculptural objects from colorful metal. We heart Bend!

tracy-wallpaper

Black Crow Studios specializes in custom made wall murals as well as custom canvases to evoke each customer’s personal style. They believe every project is a unique challenge to push their boundaries and think outside the box by always bringing something new to the table.

brendan-ravenhill

Brendan Ravenhill studio specializes in modern lighting and furniture design. Their simple chandeliers, pendants and wall sconces evoke a mid-century feel fused with contemporary forms. Their designs are devoid of excess and ornament, striving for a logical celebration of physics, material and craft.

eric-trine-furniture

Eric Trine designs by making—rather than drawing—each project/product begins in his studio. His projects vary from small scale design/build for commercial clients, to furniture, to sculpture, and decorative objects for the home.

jory-brigham

Jory Brigham grew up among generations of woodworkers and craftsmen and discovered his own creative voice at an early age. Built on top of a philosophy that opts for hand tools and raw materials over a more industrial, mechanized approach, each piece that Jory designs gives credence to this classic approach and it’s because of this approach that no two pieces can be exactly identical.

wolfum-wallpaper

Wolfum is a textile line of tabletop and home goods who just launched wallpaper and rug designs. Their colors and patterns are a great reflection of LA’s diverse landscape.

There will also be a talk about LA design featuring some of the exhibitors on Saturday and a cocktail reception at 12:30PM following the talk.

Speaking of talks, We’re also supporting Social Sessions, a Poppytalk hosted series to help promote a dialogue about West Coast design. It will feature a keynote by Joy Cho and a panel about growing your online following. Whether you’re a designer, maker, manufacturer, or a retailer, your online presence is very important and you’ll learn some great ways to help increase online visibility so be sure to mark your calendar!

And lastly, we’re sponsored the official IDSwest After Party in RAILTOWN from 8-11PM on Friday, September 25th. Presented by GRAY Magazine at Jan Kath and Design Milk at Hinterland, 503 + 505 Railway – see you there!
