Dwell on Design Exclusive House Tour: Kahn Residence

Part of the West Side Home Tour, the Kahn Residence came to be by building out and up from the original house that was on the lot. Designed by Jesse Bornstein Architecture, the house with a once cramped interior has become an open and airy, two-story residence that is perfect for the indoor/outdoor living that the client’s desired.

The house also has various appendages that jut out from the structure and serve as sitting areas, bay windows, decks, entryways, and stairs.

The house features a roof deck with a 360-degree view that you access via an external staircase and an interior double height atrium.

The interior is finished with simple white walls and wood tones, as well as metal, all acting as a backdrop to the homeowner’s art collection.

We did not attend Dwell on Design this year, but DoD was generous enough to photograph the homes on the tour exclusively for Design Milk. Make sure to check out all of the 2012 Dwell on Design house tours here.
