During New York Design Week, I curated an exhibition and popup shop at Bobby Berk Home full of West Coast designer, makers and artists. Entitled East, Meet West!, the idea behind this exhibition is to introduce more West Coast design not only to New Yorkers, but to the country’s biggest modern design audience in town for NYCxDesign, beyond what they’ll see on the trade show floor. As you walk around the city during Design Week to parties and exhibitions, you often see a lot of the same names, or, at least an overwhelming majority of designers who are based in New York. Bobby and I have always been very supportive of West Coast design, and his store’s vibe feels very LA, so it was the perfect setting to introduce New York to some of the best stuff that Seattle, Portland, and California have to offer. The exhibition featured 14 designers, and everything from furniture to artwork to jewelry, including custom colors, one-of-a-kind pieces and prototypes. We’re really proud of it.
