Empire Collection Partners with Ghislaine Viñas on a Colorful Line of Rugs

Empire Collection, Aronson’s Floor Covering’s boutique line of handmade rugs, partnered with New York City based interior designer Ghislaine Viñas on a memorable new series. Bringing her signature style that perfectly merges bold colors and expressive patterns, Viñas’ In The Hood went to the streets for inspiration where she looked to architectural and neighborhood elements to incorporate into the collection.

Each of the four designs was conjured up from her memories of living in the city for 28 years, allowing her to bring together her love of the city she calls home and her colorful aesthetic. The designs – Vestry, West Side, Tribeca, and Freeman Alley – feature abstract, geometric patterns, each available in five unexpected color ways.

West Side was inspired by Viñas’ own 8th floor loft with the busy traffic on the West Side highway contrasting the slow pace of the Hudson River.

Vestry is named after the street Viñas has called home during her time in NYC and the arches from the 1899 Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company Warehouse were the inspiration.

Freeman Alley was named after the alley in the Bowery where Viñas made a love connection between two of her friends with the lines of the alley inspiring the design.

Tribeca takes an abstract approach to hexagonal shapes with inspiration coming from one of the oldest manhole covers in the city.
