Expose: Wood Joinery Furniture By Shel Han

For her industrial design master’s program at Georgia Institute of Technology, Shel Han created Expose, a set of furniture that features knock-down joinery—meaning all the pieces fit together without glue or nails, only pure wood joinery. Taking inspiration from traditional Chinese architecture and furniture, Shel aimed to bring these age-old techniques and craftsmanship to the modern-day knock-down furniture market. The plywood was carefully crafted using CNC fabrication to ensure the joints fit precisely, and so the pieces can be put together with barely any tools.
