A Family Apartment That Focuses on Music

Located in Maracaibo, Venezuela, the Grand Europa Apartment, was designed by NMD NOMADAS for a family with a love of all things music. They proposed a design that would set up specific zones for the levels of musical activity, from high to low, and ways to help the family live comfortably with the musical level of that particular area.

The highest level of musical activity happens in the entryway and where the piano is, an area that’s wrapped in corrugated surfaces. The average level of intensity is the living room, lounge, and kitchen spaces, which feature perforated surfaces. And finally, the zones with minimal musical activity are the bedrooms, which are decked out with smooth surfaces or textiles.

The tiles on the floor reflect light and add texture to the large open space.

Bright, vivid colors are paired with neutral tones in small doses making certain areas pop.
