Field Formations: Artists Put Their Spin on Encaustic Tiles

The always innovative Concrete Collaborative partnered with Brooklyn-based Cooler Gallery on a curated tile collection designed by 14 artists + designers, hand selected for their bold use of patterns or ceramic making prowess. The artists were tasked with creating a tile that works well on its own, while also forming a dynamic pattern concept. Each tile design is vastly different, and made by California-based Concrete Collaborative through a labor-intensive hand process with tinted encaustic concrete. The tiles are unique and bold, forming a new collection unlike anything else. To mark the launch of the collection, Field Formations, Cooler Gallery is hosting an opening reception March 7th from 7-10pm with the work being on display until April 5, 2020. The artists + designers that participated are: Recreation Center, Aelfie Oudghiri, Ben Medansky, Dan Covert, Dusen Dusen, Heather McKenna, Fitzhugh Karol, High Gloss, Michael Yarinsky, Naomi S Clark, Cody Hoyt, Jenny Hata Blumenfield, Object & Totem, and Caroline Z Hurley.
