1. Dolly Parton
I start most days the same way, I sit down at my desk and play Dolly Parton’s Light of the Clear Blue Morning and close my eyes and listen to the words. I love all of her music but this song in particular is my anthem, I just love it.

2. Sweet Potatoes Restaurant
The first restaurant I tried when I moved to Winston Salem, NC in my 20s was Sweet Potatoes and it was divine! 10 years later any time I visit my favorite city they are always top on my list of places to go. Everything is incredibly delicious and owners Vivián Joiner and Stephanie Tyson’s southern hospitality is so real and warm.

3. Digital Jacquard Looms
I love any opportunity to weave textiles and the digital Jacquard looms made by Digital Weaving Norway are the perfect combination of industrial and hand made textile production. The looms can read digital files so the sky is the limit for what you can create, and you get to throw the shuttles by hand and feel every inch of the textile being created. Here in Cleveland I attended a workshop with the wonderful Praxis Fiber Workshop using the digital loom and I am hungry for more!

4. Optical Art
For endless inspiration I look to the pioneers of the optical art movement, Julian Stanczak and Richard Anuszkiewicz. It blows my mind that they created these meticulous geometric works by hand.

5. Pod Save America
My favorite way to stay informed about America’s current political events is through this podcast. They are super informed and also quite funny! I listen to this podcast while working or making dinner.
