Furniture That Mimics the Waves of the Ocean by Mathieu Lehanneur

French designer Mathieu Lehanneur looked to the ocean for a collection of tables, benches, and stools, which continues his Liquid Marble series. The pieces in the Ocean Memories collection look as if the rippling ocean water was frozen in time. They’re digitally designed and crafted out of blocks of marble or polished bronze yet the three-dimensional waves look just like that of actual water.

The polished, uneven surfaces reflect light, much like water does, further intensifying its ocean-like resemblance. The organic tops easily transition to their geometric structures below while still feeling like the perfect contrast.

Ocean Memories presented as a solo show at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery in New York last month.
