Get Comfort From an Object That Hugs You

We all need comfort sometimes and there’s not always another person around to provide that for us. Mia Cinelli designed The Weight, a comfort object that can hug us when we need it.

Weighted blankets are often used in occupational therapy practices to help relieve stress, anxiety, and the inability to focus, often associated with ADD/ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Sensory Processing Disorder. Inspired by this idea, Cinelli developed The Weight which offers deep pressure and helps relieve stress and anxiety, which often comes with loss. At the same time, the object represents the metaphorical heaviness of grief itself.

It imitates the gesture of a hug from behind and once you feel relaxed, you can take the weight off, quite literally.
