Patrick Parrish Gallery presented an eye-popping installation during Design Miami 2014. The gridded-out booth featured a group of sculptural furniture pieces by Minneapolis-based RO/LU and matching clothing from New York-based Various Projects.
The show, named Surfaces On Which Your Setting and Sitting Will Be Uncertain, showcases RO/LU’s continued exploration of “art history as a material” by beginning with very literal info “from existing works and reinventing through intuitive connections to others.” Inspired by the likes of Superstudio’s Quaderna line and installations by Ettore Sottsass, the objects of welded wire mesh change depending on where you’re standing, therefore evolving with every bit of movement the visitor makes.
As if those weren’t enough, worked with Mitchell Denburg to create matching wallpaper and a rug for the booth.
Teaming up with Various Projects to expand on their grid idea, a collection of four square dresses, in the same pattern, were made.
