Just launched at Greenhouse, a part of the Stockholm Furniture Fair, Source Materials is a collection of home furnishings that explores materials and forms in contemporary ways. Designed by Toronto-based MSDS Studio, the pieces are each made of only one material, which drove the design of the object.
The Ancestor Chair is based on a chair that predates the Windsor chair from the mid 1600s, where the design was made simple for ease in construction.
The Trio Tables are made in similar sizes but they’re each fabricated in different materials – aluminum, wood, and composite.
The Ware lamp “explores the formal plasticity of stoneware.” It’s a one-piece slipcase light with a reflector hidden in the interior volume giving the lamp a feeling of depth and dimension.
The Aluminum pendant lights have simple silhouettes with textured surfaces achieved by the sand casting process. The tumbled aluminum finish adds a craft-like, organic feel to a typically shiny surface.
