Brise’s House is a project completed by Brazilian architect Gisele Taranto in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The 1,245-square-meter (13,401 square foot) house is situated in a bustling area which meant that factoring in noise control was critical. The tall vegetation at the front of the house helps with that.
The pivoting front door is set back within a raised corridor creating a dramatic entrance.
The walkway to the entrance is lined with frosted glass panels that let you see the plants behind it, which creates a green facade surrounding the house.
The rest of the facade is covered in movable shutters that act as noise filters, while at the same time letting light filter through.
The entire house is built around a private, central courtyard. The interior rooms open up and extend out to the courtyard making the house feel that much larger.
