House in the Landscape by Kropka Studio

In Zawiercie, Poland on a long, slightly sloping plot of land within a natural park, sits a new project from Kropka Studio called House in the Landscape. Surrounding the 215 square meter home, is greenery and land mostly used for agricultural purposes, along with ruins of churches and Morsko and Ogrodzieniec castles.

Using simple shapes in the design, the goal was to create a home that fits within its surroundings, as well as the landscape, with the help of local materials.

The house consists of two main volumes, the residence and the two car garage, which are connected through open woodwork. It brings the structures together while also letting light pass through.

The exterior is made up of gabion baskets that are filled with local pieces of limestone, helping to bridge the gap between structure and landscape.

Large windows flood the all-white space with plenty of daylight. The high ceilings create a double-height space making the room feel really large.
