A House in the Woods of Sassari, Italy

Suspended above the ground amongst a sea of trees, Casa nel Bosco (House in the woods) is a simple guest house designed by Officina29 Architetti in Sassari, Italy. What could have been just a boring, orthogonal structure is actually quite enticing with its large windows and the way it sits perfectly within the forest of mature oak trees.

Raised, winding walkways gradually lead visitors to the front door through the woodsy landscape. Amazingly enough, not one tree had to be cut down to build the house! This guest house is the smaller, complementary structure to an existing house on the property.

Reinforced concrete pillars suspend the building on the sloped land, which allows for native plants to grow underneath.

Solid walls were replaced with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the incredible views.

The interior is kept fairly minimal, letting the natural surroundings remain the focus.

The game room can easily be switched into a living room with a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a bedroom.
