IKEA Launches GRATULERA Vintage Collection to Celebrate 75th Anniversary

This year IKEA celebrates its 75th anniversary and to mark the special occasion, they’re re-visiting the archives and bringing back some of their greatest hits. GRATULERA is a vintage, limited edition collection of hand-selected favorites that may give you a deeper appreciation for the Swedish giant and their budget-friendly goods. They’re breaking the collection down into three time periods – 50-60s, 70-80s, and the 90-00s – which will launch on three separate dates in 2018. Each period is quite different but you’ll get a peek into IKEA’s past through its 7+ decades in business.

The 50-60s Edition launches this month with a series of classic pieces in darker woods that were a reflection of the times. The triangular LÖVBACKEN became the company’s first flat-packed product after an IKEA worker thought to remove a table’s legs to get it into his tiny car.

Launching in October, the colorful 70-80s Edition is bound to make you smile. The pieces are bold and vibrant, giving nod to the Memphis group. The iconic KLIPPAN sofa was unveiled during this time and it was the first affordable sofa they were able to offer. For the re-release, new covers will be available in bright yellow, fiery red, and cobalt blue.

And lastly coming in December, it’s the most recent 90-00s Edition with a lean towards minimalism. The pieces feature lighter woods, graphic patterns, and added functionality. The circular SIPPRUTA textiles were designed for the first PS collection of classic patterned textiles back in 1995.
