Architects for Animals, an awareness-raising initiative, brought together some of the best architecture and design firms to create some amazing outdoor cat shelters to benefit FixNation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to minimizing cat populations in a humane way. All the shelters were unveiled to the public during an exhibit named “Giving Shelter” this past September, and proceeds were donated to FixNation.

There are more architecturally inspired cat enclosures at DaviesDecor.com including the Post and Beam Cat House and the Googie Cat Bed.

As cute as those are not one would benefit cats in the winter or hot summer days. Most leave the cats wide open for predators while others just won’t keep a cat warm or cool depending on the season..

Um, I really don’t think these designer understand the challenges feral cats face and what is necessary in making a shelter they would actually use. Form and function are necessary for truly good design.
