Koush Design

Julie Pieda is the founder behind the small Australian-based Koush Design. The firm designs interiors, furniture, and objects, all designed and made locally. They have developed a line of modern and quirky furniture that includes the Plateau Sofa and the Grate Sideboard.

The Plateau comes as a 2-, 3- or 4-seat sofa and is available in fabric or leather. The asymmetrical design features an armrest on one side while the other side is in line with the seat cushions giving it an almost chaise-like feel. The sofa contains a stainless steel frame that “floats” the back cushion and looks great from any angle.

The Grate Sideboard was inspired by the light and shadows created by the iron grates over the New York City subways. The rectangular shape details on the front of the unit create shadows on the piece depending on the light and what angle you are standing at. The sideboard is available in a 3- or 5-door model in an oak veneer but can also be customized upon request.
