Live a New Mediterranean Way of Life With Talo + Obi

At this year’s Salone del Mobile, luxury outdoor furniture brand Expormim introduced a bevy of newness, not least among them these two collections that caught our eye. Talo and Obi want to inspire you to get closer to nature through their well thought out design features and sustainability – a new Mediterranean way of life, as they refer to it.

First up is Talo, designed by Altherr Désile Park and described as being halfway between nature and geometry. Inspiration from rocky landscapes explains it all with geometric shapes and a natural color palette featuring stone, sage, and terracotta. The outdoor table collection is made entirely from highly-resistant sustainable materials. Enameled aluminum and frosted glass are used for the tabletop while colored concrete makes up the base. The three coffee tables that make up Talo are available in various heights and sizes, there are also several dining tables to choose from. But the one thing they all have in common? An asymmetrical concrete base.

Well-known duo Ludovica+Roberto Palomba are the minds behind Obi, which is their latest seating collection. You might guess that it’s named after the main element of a kimono, and you’d be right. In Japanese culture, the obi has to be a different color and theme than the rest of the kimono. The designers translated this into an elastic band that wraps the sofa’s backrest cushions. It can be made of a waterproof textile or leather, providing a welcome visual disruption that also adds beauty. Obi’s structure is made of aluminum injection molding that’s 100% recyclable and profile exclusion.
