Luke Haynes Treatments at Blu Dot LA

Thanks to everyone who came out to see Luke Haynes’ Treatments at Blu Dot LA. We had a fantastic time and it was a wonderful event. I was very excited to meet Luke in person after almost two years (!) of trying to work together. We were very grateful to the Blu Dot team for offering up their space, which worked so well with Luke’s whimsical and incredible creations.

Luke Haynes with some of his work

Made entirely of old clothing, Luke’s quilts are more than just throws for your bed. Luke’s interest in quilting actually stemmed from a background in architecture and a love for math. He always enjoyed making things with his hands, so it only seemed natural to create something that involved structure and formulas. However, he’s taken a traditional craft that’s been dominated by women and turned it into an entirely new genre that blurs the lines between design, art and craft. Most of his current work references traditional quilting and American craft as well as American artwork. And he’s a super nice guy and a snazzy dresser to boot! I hope you have a chance to see his work in person at some point—visit his website to see if he’s showing near you.
