Madeline Weinrib Launches Rug Inspired by Sand Paintings

Textile designer Madeline Weinrib launched a series of new carpets and fabrics at this year’s Collective Design. The Sand Collection is Weinrib’s own interpretation of sand paintings inspired by renowned abstract expressionist painter Antonio Tàpies, who incorporated sand, dirt, and crushed marble into his work.

The new work includes hand woven carpets, silk ikats, and hand-blocked fabrics with a textural, tactile quality and an intentional, irregular feel.
