Marble Tray by Objetto

Marble Tray is a minimal object designed by Belgium-based firm Objetto. Objetto’s founder, Nils Van Brabant, was initially intrigued by architectural photography, leading him to live in Chile for a few years. Chile’s raw landscapes, ranging from Patagonia to Atacama desert, provided with new insight into the world of minimalism and simplicity.

The production of the tray involves a carving technique that is unique to Hector Alvarado, a Mexican sculptor living in Indonesia. The aesthetic reminds the user of the fragility of stone, as well as celebrates the fluidity of water. The pieces are each slowly hand-sanded until the surfaces are extremely fine to the touch.

The company is led by a mantra that will continue to follow through with all future projects. Through his eclectic collaborations with craftsmen around the world, Nils ignites tangible stories to share between art and functionality. As a result, his designs are guided by aesthetic, authenticity, and sustainability.
