Staying true to her distinctive minimalist style, designer Lily Toya has released a new jewelry collection: VERGE. By fusing concrete with boldly colored metals, each design is sure to brighten up your everyday closet pieces. The collection includes four necklace designs: Tessera, Diatomi, Orbis, and Platera, as well as two earring designs: Linea and Minimis. There’s a balance in each piece between concrete and color, with powder coated metals peeking out from concrete to convey presence.
The Israel-born, New York resident started out as an interior design student, but found herself fascinated with concrete and its possibilities. Experience in digital design and fabrication allowed Lily Toya to reimagine the material, with it soon becoming her creative focus and passion. Each jewelry creation begins with a simple sketch that’s later translated into a 3D design before being tested with 3D-printed molds. Finally, a custom concrete mix is casted, yielding the original pieces.
Architectural and construction site influences are clear in each element of VERGE, breaking the expectations we might have of concrete as a material. Lily Toya examined the shapes of steel and iron embedded into concrete, and transformed them into a meaningful aesthetic. Rather than weighed down and heavy, VERGE’s detailed designs have a lightweight, vivid, and elegant feel about them with a unique texture.
The VERGE collection is available in a fun palette of colors that includes Zinc Yellow, Desert Sand, Light Pink, Patina Green, and Charcoal Suede Blue. Now available in the Design Milk Shop here!
